2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Lords Education and Health Society (LEHS), is an Indian, not-for-profit organization, working on improving the quality of, and access to primary healthcare services for under-served communities across India. LEHS was registered in India under the Societies Registration Act, in 2003. The organization is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010.
Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH) is the flagship program of LEHS, and was established with a generous grant from Mr. Sunil Wadhwani and his family.
WISH is implementing healthcare models through partnerships with state governments, international agencies and the private sector, by introducing promising and appropriate healthcare innovations in the public health system, to build an equitable, innovation-led and evidence-based, quality healthcare system, within easy reach of underserved populations.
LEHS|WISH strives to provide a quality compliant, fully operational healthcare delivery system, using innovation and technology.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working closely with the Vice President, based in the US, the Head- Business Development (HBD) shall lead the organization’s institutional partnerships function. S/he shall secure consistent, large, multi-year grants from bi-laterals, institutional donors, corporate and CSR foundations, and high, net worth individuals, building durable partnerships aligned with LEHS|WISH’s vision and mission.
The HBD should have extensive experience in proposal writing and demonstrated success in maturing high-value grants, as well as securing new donor partnerships.
The HBD must be an effective leader, who can set strategic direction, implement structured practices, oversee teams and guide them to achieve excellence and strengthen the brand positioning/ value proposition of LEHS|WISH, at the national and state levels.
The incumbent will be a key player in establishing a culture of respect, trust, collaboration, learning, innovation, urgency and passion for results within team members and their workings. S/he will exemplify the mission, vision and cultural values of LEHS|WISH through her/his actions.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Develop and implement a Business Development Plan aligned with LEHS|WISH’s strategic plans, to increase the reach and impact of the organization;
(2) Research trends, competition and sources for large, multi-year funding and build a strong pipeline of donors;
(3) Lead the process of developing high quality proposals to secure a consistent and significant flow of funding, for the organization;
(4) Maintain the organization’s proposal development pipeline by establishing systems that are able to provide real-time information and also inform the organization’s resource mobilization strategy;
(5) Identify and network with major national and multi-national corporates, foundations, bi-laterals, institutional donors and high net worth individuals, to secure multi-year commitments and meet annual fundraising targets;
(6) Collaborate with concerned staff to develop customized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to secure funding from donors and prospects;
(7) Conceptualize new initiatives to attract and engage potential donors and partners;
(8) Prepare weekly and monthly tracking reports on pipelines and progress towards goals, and/or other updates, as needed;
(9) Create and support stakeholder/ consortium events, donor engagement programs and related initiatives, to obtain long-term funding;
(10) Manage the communications calendar for online and offline outreach to donors;
(11) Coordinate with the Communications team on related activities, including but not limited to annual reports, donor newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, online activities and other outreach material;
(12) Develop and manage partner agreements/ proposals;
(13) The role may include other reasonable duties/ tasks, assigned from time to time by the CEO/ VP.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
(1) Applicants must have a master’s degree in management, or related discipline;
(2) Specialized course(s) on fundraising or relationship management, for the not-for-profit sector, is desirable.
Experience:
(1) Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in business development activities, of which at least five must be in senior positions, leading the organizational fundraising strategy;
(2) Strong understanding and experience of working with international and national funding agencies, such as BMGF, USAID, etc.;
(3) Strong networks and demonstrated experience in institutional fundraising, showcasing a track record of successful fundraising outcomes, during this period;
(4) Prior experience in the health sector shall be preferred;
(5) Prior experience in other modes of fundraising (other than institutional), shall be an added advantage.

(9) People Management: Demonstrates leadership capacity to build and lead teams; Possesses strong interpersonal abilities and provides necessary direction to the team with focus on skill building, overall staff development, enhanced performance and engagement levels; Emotionally intelligent, perceptive and demonstrates inclusiveness and diversity;
(10) Willing and able to travel extensively.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is maximum of Rs. 30-35 lacs per annum. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
