2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
 

Incorporated in 2008, the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) is an industry led, membership based Indian non-profit organisation, that drives energy efficiency markets and policies in India.

 

AEEE is the only organisation in India that works on creating awareness about energy efficiency as a resource. The organization aims to transform India into a global leader in energy efficiency, by reducing the country’s energy intensity. AEEE is working towards making India a globally competitive and environmentally sustainable economy and one of the most attractive markets for companies, with the best available energy-efficient technologies. The organization also provides a convening platform for Government and Industry to engage in a constructive dialogue to design and implement effective and impactful policies.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the Programme Lead- State & Local Action, the Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate- State & Local Action shall be responsible for working on State-level policy analysis with the broader objective to support energy efficiency implementation at state and local level through evidence-based, unbiased research and cutting-edge analytical approaches.

The incumbent shall be conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis and assessments through primary and secondary research. S/he would actively engage with the State Designated Agency (SDA) and with other stakeholders at the state level to advance the adoption of energy efficiency policy in states.


Key Deliverables:

(1) Drive insightful analysis on energy efficiency at State level & National Level;
(2) Interact with officials in the State Designated Agency (SDA) in all states and UTs for AEEE programmes – state energy efficiency index, data collection, workshops, meetings, etc;
(3) Track policy, legislative, and legal developments about energy conservation and energy efficiency at the state level and provide regular briefs on matters related to energy efficiency & energy conservation;
(4) Collect and manage data from various sources. Bringing in web-scraping and intelligent data processing techniques must be an integral part of all data-driven work;
(5) Conduct both primary and desktop/secondary research using various external information sources;
(6) Prepare reports on the existing schemes and programs for energy efficiency in the states;
(7) Write high-quality research pieces – papers, presentations, policy briefs, etc., and project reports;
(8) Other necessary tasks as they arise.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

(1) Applicants must have Master’s degree with a specialisation in public policy, economics (preferably energy economics), or related field; with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, data science, economics.

Experience:
(1) Minimum two to four years’ experience (Research AssociateOR four to seven years’ experience (Senior Research Associate) in policy research, socio-economic research, preferably in the domain of energy or climate action;
(2) Experience in identifying technical and policy issues, analyse and interpret data, and help identify/develop creative solutions for energy efficiency in states;
(3) Experience in dealing with various stakeholders, such as SDA officials, State government officials, public sector, subject matter experts;
(4) Basic knowledge of energy efficiency and energy policies is desirable.


Skills and Competencies:
(1) Should have a strong research background with proven analytical research capabilities and excellent written and verbal communications;
(2) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, with a general understanding of data analysis techniques; knowledge and experience in the latest data analysis tools is a plus;
(3) Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision;
(4) Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
