ISC builds the capacity of local leaders and organizations to address important global issues, including climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection, resulting in embedded capacity and lasting change.

The Director/ Associate Director of International Program Development (DPID) shall be responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities with corporates, foundations, and government donors for ISC’s international programs (outside-USA), currently focused in South and Southeast Asia.

The position oversees all aspects of program design and proposal development from background research, concept creation and log frame-building, to proposal writing and timely submission. This includes researching, positioning, writing, and producing competitive proposals that will increase ISC’s funding and programs in Asia. The position also supports monitoring, evaluation and learning, and coordinates closely with ISC’s leadership, VP - International Programs and Country Directors, apart from staff in Asia and the US.

The successful candidate will be motivated by the organization’s mission and that of its partners, and embed equity in climate change and sustainability policy and investments. The DIPD will have the opportunity to shape the direction of new international initiatives at the critical intersection of climate action and equity, advancing climate justice in countries that are among the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Collaborate with the Vice President of International Programs, the Vice President for Development, and Country Directors, to identify, shape and advance ISC’s organization-wide and South and Southeast Asia fundraising strategies and opportunities;
(2) Identify opportunities, analyze, gather intelligence, and conduct outreach to pinpoint mission-aligned program funding opportunities for ISC;
(3) Lead, manage and support state-of-the-art project design, writing and production of proposal submissions, letters of interest, concept papers, informational materials, and supervise ISC cross-organization staff or contractors performing these functions;
(4) Provide input on equity, inclusion and building the capacity of local leaders to tackle environmental, social and economic climate change and sustainability solutions;
(5) Deliver timely and efficient International Program Board reports for submission and review by ISC’s President, scheduled updates to ISC’s departments, and Salesforce updates;
(6) Coordinate donor meetings and networking to gather intelligence and strengthen relationships with key ISC donors and champions and represent ISC in identifying and cultivating new donor and partnership opportunities;
(7) Prepare and collaborate with ISC’s Communications team on communications, developing materials, messaging, and implementation of strategies;
(8) Monitor ongoing projects and support program staff in analyzing program results, providing guidance in the preparation of project reports, and supervision of business development consultants;
(9) Facilitate the successful transition between program design and program execution, including interim and/or mobilization support for the start-up of new programs.


Applicants must have a Masters’ degree in a related area of expertise, or equivalent work experience.


(1) Minimum 10 years of international experience in analytical and strategic roles within the development and/or private sector, with experience in urban sustainability,  climate change, energy, supply chains, community development, and engagement of marginalized communities, is essential;
(2) Experience of working in Asia shall be preferred;
(3) Proven track record in successful fundraising, business and/or program development;
(4) Experience in program implementation shall be an added advantage;
(5) Prior experience in co-creating, writing, fine-tuning and submitting proposals based on standardized processes outlined by USAID, UK FDCO, BMUB IKI, EU, etc.

(2) Socially and interpersonally adaptable and comfortable in a multicultural environment;
(3) Demonstrated experience in project management, encompassing organization, and efficient and timely execution and delivery of projects, apart from meeting planning and facilitation;
(4) Effective and independent when working on global teams, handling multiple priorities and deliverables, while paying strict attention to deadlines and details;
(5) Ability to lead and to manage complex global initiatives across diverse geographies and functions;
(6) Strong entrepreneurial drive, motivation and the ability to identify creative solutions;
(7) Ability to clearly communicate complex issues, develop business opportunities with donors, and inform diverse audiences and stakeholder groups;
(8) Commitment to ISC’s mission and goals.


Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 24-36 lacs per annum but will not be a constraint for the right candidate.
