Founded in 1991, the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) is an international, not-for-profit organization, that helps communities around the world address environmental, economic and social challenges, to build a better future shaped and shared by all.

Headquartered in Vermont, USA, ISC has its India Offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. India operations are executed through a Private Limited, commercial arm and a Section 8, non-profit arm.

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

ISC is looking to recruit a young, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, content development and communications outreach management professional, to fill the vacancy for Communications & Outreach Assistant to support the increase in visibility and impact of ISC’s programs in India.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Program Officer – Communications & Knowledge Management, the Communications & Outreach Assistant (COA) will be responsible for the following:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

A. Content Development Support:
(1) Provide support for program-specific requirements for varied collaterals, which include, program reports, brochures, IEC materials, videos, factsheets, infographics, e-newsletters, etc.;
(2) Create a range of collaterals internally, and liaise with design vendor(s) to develop and produce materials;
(3) Ensure branding and style compliance, and adherence to the organization’s communications guidelines, across all collaterals;
(4) Provide support in managing SEO-friendly content for the website, as well as other ISC managed microsites. Edit for consistency and accuracy and suggest areas for improvement;
(5) Create and edit creative content/ collaterals for ISC’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms;
(6) Assist with knowledge management, archiving and documentation. Maintain and curate a repository of photos, graphics, icons, infographics and video clips for use and repurpose, as a part of digital content;(7) Provide administrative support to the Program Officer – Communications & Knowledge Management and Program Teams in developing collaterals within deadlines.

B. Outreach and Dissemination Support
(1) Maintain and follow a content calendar for regular and targeted social media updates and other prescribed dissemination priorities, in close coordination with the Program Officer – Communications & Knowledge Management;
(2) Routinely post updates and collaterals on ISC’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms;
(3) Coordinate routinely with the extended Communications Team for posting timely updates (blogs, media coverage, etc.) on the organization’s website, helping manage and assisting with approval cycles and follow-ups;
(4) Create emailers and invitation content (posters, banners and social media collaterals) for webinars and events;
(5) Manage email outreach for webinars and events using designated email campaign software.

C. Technical & Webinar Management Support:
(1) Upload updates (as directed) and manage website back-end (WordPress) when needed;
(2) Execute a clearly defined webinar management strategy - scheduling, registrations, platform management and streaming; preparing key messaging and presentation material; managing invitations and social media promotions, post webinar surveys and polls.

D. Monitoring & Evaluation Support:
(1) Regularly monitor website, media coverage and social media metrics and periodically analyse the same (as per prescribed timelines);
(2) Maintain a digital database, back-ups and support the repository of ISC tools and resources;
(3) Keep an eye out for trends and developments to enhance visibility and outreach, and share suggestions to expand digital dissemination outlets for information sharing such as websites, webinars, social media, videos, data visualizations, infographics, email listservs, etc.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:             

Qualifications:
(1) Bachelor’s degree in Communications/ Marketing/ Public Relations/ Journalism (or related field);
(2) Background in communications, media relations, and/or knowledge management (documentation, archiving, reporting) is required.

Experience:

(1) One to two years of relevant and proven work experience in digital marketing and external branding communications;
(2) Experience of working with nonprofits shall be preferred;
(3) Freshers may also apply.

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Understanding of collateral production, multimedia design, brand identity, product packaging, and website design;
(2) Demonstrable graphic design skills are essential; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); Presentation design and visual communications collateral development, is required;
(3) Experience of using video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Corel Video Studio, etc.) is required;
(4) Strong writing and copy-editing skills; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English;
(5) Working knowledge of Hindi and Marathi is required;
(6) Knowledge of email marketing campaign software (MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, etc.) is required;
(7) Proficiency and experience in the use of webinar software (Zoom variants) is required;
(8) Experience in the use of social media dashboards/ management tools (Hootsuite, Meltwater, Sprout Social) is required and social/ web analytics software (Google Analytics) shall be preferred;
(9) Ability to work effectively with website backend and content management systems (WordPress); Familiarity with HTML will be an asset;
(10) Proficiency in using MS Office Suite:

(i) Formatting and report/ document design on MS Word;
(ii) Maintaining calendars and trackers on MS Excel;
(iii) Design presentations on MS PowerPoint;

(11) Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment;(12) Excellent organization and time management skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks and respond rapidly to new events and competing priorities; Given the nature of the job, the post-holder may need to work extended hours on occasion;
(13) Creative problem-solver with an eye for good design; On the cutting edge of emerging social media trends and technologies;
(14) Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of political and ethical issues in assigned areas of work.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 5 lacs per annum. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
