1. POSITION VACANT: Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate, Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy, New Delhi

Incorporated in 2008, the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) is an industry led, membership based Indian non-profit organisation, that drives energy efficiency markets and policies in India.

AEEE is the only organisation in India that works on creating awareness about energy efficiency as a resource. The organization aims to transform India into a global leader in energy efficiency, by reducing the country’s energy intensity. AEEE is working towards making India a globally competitive and environmentally sustainable economy and one of the most attractive markets for companies, with the best available energy-efficient technologies. The organization also provides a convening platform for Government and Industry to engage in a constructive dialogue to design and implement effective and impactful policies.

Over the years, major foundations, as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies, have helped AEEE grow, as well as undertake projects in the area of energy efficiency policy advocacy and business enablement, with emphasis on knowledge products and the creation of more effective and credible platforms.

Reporting to the Programme Lead, the Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate shall be responsible for supporting AEEE’s policy and research programmes, including but not limited to, energy efficiency and environmental management in Cold Chain for agriculture and allied sectors, and health care.

Key Deliverables:
(1) Support/ lead in identifying potential strategy areas, developing proposals and undertaking meaningful research to support policy making;

(2) Support/ lead primary and secondary research for proposals and project implementation;
(3) Develop surveys and questionnaires and collect, collate and analyze data using different data analysis software/ tools;
(4) Stay abreast of developments in India and globally in the field of cold chain, including but not limited to Doubling Farmer’s Income (DFI), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Market Reforms in Agricultural Produce Trade and Commerce, Logistics Policies, Global Food Cold Chain Council (GFCCC), Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) and electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN);
(5) Develop financing/ business models for cold chain development, including Public-Private Partnerships (PPP);
(6) Generate content and outreach activities for blogs, brochures, online posts and articles;
(7) Support/ lead in building strong relationships with relevant stakeholders;
(8) Support/ lead in writing and preparing discussion papers, project-reports, issue-briefs and journal-papers;
(9) Guide and mentor research analysts, or interns.



(1) Applicants must have a post-graduate degree in Economics, Statistics, or related area, from a reputed institution in India or overseas;
(2) Applicants with Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline will have an added advantage;
(3) Graduates in the above fields, with extensive experience in logistics and supply chain management, or post-harvest management, or other area relevant for cold chain development in agriculture and allied sectors and health care, shall also be considered.

Research Associate:
(1) Minimum two years of experience in research in the relevant field, with focus on cold chain policy development and/or implementation;

Senior Research Associate:
(2) Minimum five years of experience in research in the relevant field, with focus on cold chain policy development and/or implementation;

Research Associate and Senior Research Associate:
(3) Experience in policy development support and implementation in the field of energy efficiency in agricultural and vaccine cold chains is preferred;
(4) Experience in playing key roles in policy dialogue with clients and stakeholders in government, industry and civil society, in the agriculture sector.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Applicants should demonstrate a solid understanding of agricultural and allied sectors’ policies, immunization policies, logistics policies, supply chain strategies, private sector participation, and institutional development needed to support analytical work and project deliverables;
(2) Demonstrable ability to translate technical analyses into policies and/or knowledge materials for various stakeholders, including farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and/or health care professionals as relevant for the development of an integrated cold chain infrastructure in India;
(3) Excellent track record in preparing/ carrying out high quality and timely analytical reports and activities, shall be an advantage;
(4) Willingness to travel within India for carrying out various project activities;
(5) Willingness to participate in events, seminars, etc. related to the field of work;
(6) Demonstrable exposure to participating actively in and contributing to the overall development of the organisation;
(7) Excellent writing skills in English and at least one Indian language, preferably Hindi;
(8) Strong ability to articulate, comprehend and synthesize technical information for people working in the policy arena, agricultural and/or health care field, will be a plus;
(9) Excellent visualisation and presentation skills;
(10) Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, is a pre-requisite;
(11) Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software;
(12) High level of excitement, ability to work independently, taking initiative, and flexibility in quickly adjusting to changing work program requirements.

The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
