3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Operations, India, the Project Accountant (PA) shall be responsible for managing the partner projects finance including verifications of project expenses, budget control, facilitating fund request / fund transfers & annual audits, finance related compliance and audit management. The incumbent shall also be assisting in certain areas to provide support to finance and admin team members and the organization at large as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Partner Projects Finance

(a) Review partners finance reports and verifying project expenses;
(b) Oversee overall budget compliances and forecast, re-alignment and revisions as and when needed;
(c) Facilitate fund requests from partners/ fund transfers from HQ

(2) Capacity Building and Training Support

(a) Training and coaching to the new partners on finance standards and reporting formats of the organisation (both India based reports and global office templates)

(3) Compliances and Reporting

(a) Ensure timely submission of all finance related periodical compliance and statuary reports (including annual returns to RoC and ADB);
(b) Compliances related to partners projects (both organisation and finance related) includes FCRA, IT, 80G, 12A;

(4) Audit Management  

(a) Facilitate internal and external audit processes;
(b) Arrange internal and external audit of the partners through third party appointment (as per donors’ compliances).

(5) Admin

(a) Perform ad-hoc special projects related to Admin as assigned from time to time.

(6) Other Key Responsibilities

(a) Produce accurate and timely financial analysis, accounting, and reporting for global offices;
(b) Advise internal stakeholders on finance policies, procedures, and guidelines;
(c) Provide support in accounting compliance required on assigned grants;
(d) Produce accurate and timely grant-related reports to internal and external stakeholders;
(e) Manage multiple projects simultaneously, driving each to timely completion.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:          

Qualifications:

Applicant must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

Experience:

(1) Minimum six to eight years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field with demonstrated knowledge of accounting functions, such as budgeting, forecasting, and/or financial reporting;
(2) Thorough knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP is preferred;
(3) Proficiency with an accounting software and comprehensive database systems is required;
(4) Knowledge and demonstrated experience with MS Office package software applications with advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel;
(5) Experience in project or grant-based accounting is preferred;
(6) Prior professional experience in planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting varying deadlines successfully;
(7) Demonstratable skill in researching, analyzing, evaluating, and summarizing complex financial data for accuracy and adherence to guidelines;
(8) Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to multi-geographical stakeholders;
(9) Willing to travel up to 15% of domestic travel. Travel will commence as is advisable given business needs and safety considerations as determined by organizational guidelines.

The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offer shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
