2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
CanKids…KidsCan (CanKids), is a highly respected, national, non-profit, with operations in 22 States and 53 cities across India, ushering in pioneering care and cure models with agility and innovation, and deploying digital solutions for the purpose. The organization is dedicated to effecting change and improvement on all aspects of treatment, care and support services, for children with cancer and their families in India.
CanKids has successfully implemented its Access2Care model for Change for Childhood Cancer in India, targeting global survival rates of 70-95% and high quality of life for child cancer patients, families and survivors. The Access2Care model delivers holistic support to families of children with cancer under its signature YANA – You Are Not Alone program, delivered through CanKids Hospital Support Units (CHSUs) and CanKids Care Centers (CCCs), at hospitals where children are being treated for cancer.
CanKids has to date supported over 53,000 families of children with cancer under the Access2Care program. CanKids presently has a team of over 2,400 persons, including full-time professionals, honorary members, energized survivors and committed volunteers from diverse backgrounds, working across India. CanKids and its partners in India and globally, receive support for their programmes and initiatives from leading corporate and public sector organizations, bilateral agencies, HNIs, and family trusts, amongst others.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the CEO, the Director Programmes (DRP) shall be responsible for formulating and implementing programme strategies to achieve CanKids’ objectives.
This is a senior management position, and the DRP expected to play a key role in defining programme strategy, apart from overseeing programme operations and implementation. The post-holder shall serve as the key link between the national management team and regional operations, with responsibility for improving decision-making, as well as programme outcomes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Design, and implement strategies to achieve the organization’s programme objectives and lead their delivery;
(2) Plan, schedule and manage programmes, ensuring the completion of projects within agreed timelines and budgetary parameters;
(3) Coordinate all work with national and international partners, measuring and managing milestones and outcomes, to ensure high quality delivery and excellence of programmes;
(4) Leverage Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) models for health-related, social sector projects, networking with resources in relevant organizations for the purpose;
(5) Work closely with partners in the public sector/ state governments, including technical, and medical professionals, to ensure effective programme implementation;
(6) Direct the Knowledge Management function at CanKids and guide the MEAL framework across the organization;
(7) Build the capacities of internal and partner teams, to improve operations and financial performance;
(8) Represent CanKids at various national and international forums and act as an able spokesperson.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Applicants must have a post-graduate degree in a field relevant to the work carried out by CanKids.
Experience:
Applicants must have 12-15 years of experience in programme management, implementation and operations, of which three years must be in a leadership role.
Skills and Competencies:

(3) Demonstrated skills in leading programming for a national-level NGO, including the management of health programmes, administrative departments, resource mobilization, programme expansion and setting up new projects, apart from managing medium to large-sized programme teams;
(4) Identifying, planning and coordinating resource mobilization efforts covering CSR, bilateral, PSU, and Government funding opportunities;
(5) Skilled in resolving operational and human resource issues, meeting statutory requirements and ensuring the delivery of quality services;
(6) Effective communicator with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and team building abilities;
(7) Strong commitment to improving living conditions for marginalized families;
(8) Demonstrated skills in effective engagement with government officials, technical partners, medical professionals and the community, in the context of managing programmes.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 18 to 22 lacs per annum. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
