1. POSITION VACANT: Senior Research Executive, Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation, New Delhi (One Vacancy)

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Government of India (GOI) has initiated Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) as an independent organization under the Societies Registration Act to facilitate civil society action in partnership with State and Central Government, for transforming livelihoods and lives of rural households, with an emphasis on women, particularly in the Central Indian Tribal Region.

BRLF is a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative and the Foundation is constituted as a partnership between Government on the one hand and private sector philanthropies, public and private sector undertakings (under Corporate Social Responsibility) on the other. Major functions of BRLF is to provide financial grants to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to meet their human resource and institutional costs for up-scaling of proven interventions, invest in institutional strengthening of smaller CSOs and capacity building of professional human resources working at the grassroots.

The General Body and Executive Committee of BRLF are constituted by eminent individuals as well as ex-officio representatives from private philanthropies, public and private sector organizations, financial institutions, State Governments and GOI.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Research & Institutional Partnership Officer (RIPO)/ Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Research Executive (SRE) shall be responsible for applying mixed-method research to develop policy memos and technical papers for the Government and non-Government stakeholders.

The SRE shall travel across the Central Indian Tribal Livelihoods to document the expansive work of the BRLF-CSO partners working on sustainable livelihoods, natural resource management and securing rights and entitlements for the socio-economically marginalized through Government schemes. S/he will also support Program and Capacity Building verticals appropriately and building institutional partnerships for BRLF.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Develop and improve the knowledge on themes of tribal development and sustainable livelihoods in Central India Under the guidance of the RIPO;
(2) Provide support to the RIPO to build the research capacities of BRLF-CSO partners by building their research orientation, which also allows them to document their work better, and develop performance indicators for their programmatic interventions;
(3) Provide support to the RIPO to develop study design, data collection strategy and oversee its implementation, identify external agency (as/when required) and help with results dissemination for various stakeholders;
(4) Assist in the development of Monitoring and Evaluation framework for evaluating programmatic interventions for BRLF’s own and external stakeholders.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Post Graduate degree in Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Work, or any other related field from a reputed institution;
Experience:
Applicant must have minimum five years of knowledge on themes of Rural Development/ Tribal Development/ and Sustainable Livelihoods, of which minimum three years of experience in designing and implementation qualitative studies (Focus Groups, Interviews, Surveys);

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Fluency in English and Hindi languages (both written & verbal). Knowledge of other regional languages (Oriya, Marathi, Bengali) are desirable;
(2) Knowledge of Econometrics is highly desirable;
(3) Must be very proficient in MS Office;
(4) Must have working knowledge of SPSS, STATA or R;
(5) Knowledge of setting up and using KOBO Collect or other survey app;
(6) Ability to work with different stakeholders such as the government officials, and beneficiaries;
(7) Willingness to travel extensively;
(8) Ability to take initiative, engage in multi-tasking and sell-driven;
(9) Ability to produce results in a timely manner.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 10-12 lacs per annum. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

6. LOCATION: New Delhi

7. APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time position, and the initial contract will be offered for a period of three years, which shall be renewable based on performance.
