2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) is an international membership, technical and scientific organisation, headquartered in Paris, France. Established in 1920, The Union is led by people who are committed to a healthier world for all, free of tuberculosis and lung disease. 

The Union has been working to improve health for people in low and middle-income countries, by conducting scientific research, and working with governments and other agencies, to translate research into better health for people around the world, and delivering projects directly in the field, driving change to ensure the best quality care.


About the Project:

iDEFEAT TB has been set up to provide institutional strengthening to accelerate actions for TB and Drug Resistant TB in India and is USAID’s flagship TB project in India. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen TB-related institutions, focusing on programmatic and clinical management of patients with TB and DR-TB, thereby contributing to the achievement of India’s National Strategic Plan and targets, set forth at the United Nations High-Level Meeting on TB.

iDEFEAT TB is being implemented by The Union-led consortium, that includes Collaboration for Elimination of TB in India (CETI), ECHO India, Empower School of Health (Empower), Foundation for Medical Research (FMR), IQVIA and KNCV TB Foundation (KNCV). The project works in close collaboration with the Central TB Division (CTD), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), across the network of identified diagnostic, treatment and program management institutions

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the
Senior Technical Advisor – Institutional Strengthening & PMDT, the State Project Coordinator (SPC) will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Provide support to the assigned Centres for Excellence (CoE) for DR-TB for catalysing institutional strengthening for DR-TB at CoEs and spoke institutions;
(2) Facilitate the assigned State TB Training and Demonstration Centres (STDCs) for delivering higher quality training, including e-training and stronger monitoring and evaluation systems;
(3) Provide support to the districts in the assigned states for quality improvement- program management training, for demonstration of real time tracking of TB patient’s specimen for transportation and testing, engagement of private sector laboratories, as and where applicable;
(4)
Provide support to the Corporate Partnerships team for the engagement of the corporate sector in TB/ DR-TB care for TB-free workplaces and leveraging private sector resources in the assigned states;
(5)
Facilitate coordination with all kinds of stakeholders in the assigned states, including state government, NTEP staff, technical experts, corporate representatives, TB partners, advocates and TB champions;
(6)
Provide support in organizing technical workshops and stakeholder consultations and support documentation and monitoring of all project activities in the assigned states;
(7)
Provide a monthly report, quarterly report and an end-of-assignment report in the activities, achievements, challenges and recommendation;
(8)
Perform other relevant duties as required by the Supervisor/s and/or Country Director of The Union’s South East-Asia Office.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:
(1) Applicants must have Masters or equivalent degree in medical science, management (sales/ marketing), social science, communication, international development or related field;

Experience:

(1) Applicants must have a minimum of five years’ experience, managing a similar role, preferably in Public Health;
(2) Experience in project management and capacity building;
(3)
Experience in dealing with corporate sector;
(4) Experience in resource mobilization and managing online campaigns will be an added advantage;

(5) Prior experience working with international organizations on USAID or other donor funded projects, will be preferred;
(6) Understanding of the broad landscape of National TB Elimination Program (NTEP);
(7) Experience in providing technical support to public health projects.


Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent Communications and Public Relations skills;
(2) Excellent drafting and presentation skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise reports;
(3) Excellent skills in MS office;
(4) Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills and ability to build confidence and manage relationships with corporate partners;
(5) Ability to plan, set priorities, handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
(6) Experience of working with diverse team;
(7) Willingness to travel per project needs.


5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
