1. POSITION(S) VACANT: National Consultant for Drug Resistance-TB Care and Institutional Strengthening (NC-DRTB&IS), The UNION, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) is an international membership, technical and scientific organisation, headquartered in Paris, France. Established in 1920, The Union is led by people who are committed to a healthier world for all, free of tuberculosis and lung disease.
The Union has been working to improve health for people in low and middle-income countries, by conducting scientific research, and working with governments and other agencies, to translate research into better health for people around the world, and delivering projects directly in the field, driving change to ensure the best quality care.
About the Project:
iDEFEAT TB has been set up to provide institutional strengthening to accelerate actions for TB and Drug Resistant TB in India and is USAID’s flagship TB project in India. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen TB-related institutions, focusing on programmatic and clinical management of patients with TB and DR-TB, thereby contributing to the achievement of India’s National Strategic Plan and targets, set forth at the United Nations High-Level Meeting on TB.
iDEFEAT TB is being implemented by The Union-led consortium, that includes Collaboration for Elimination of TB in India (CETI), ECHO India, Empower School of Health (Empower), Foundation for Medical Research (FMR), IQVIA and KNCV TB Foundation (KNCV). The project works in close collaboration with the Central TB Division (CTD), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), across the network of identified diagnostic, treatment and program management institutions

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Project Director (iDEFEAT TB Project), the NC-DRTB&IS will be responsible for the following:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Provide support on development and establishment of CoEs and the implementation of the hub and spoke model of DR-TB & TB Care;
(2) Provide support in establishment of sites where New Drug Regimen will be implemented and facilitate close coordination with all partners for optimal scale-up of DR-TB related activities under NTEP;
(3) Provide support in the operations of the DRTB consortium and private sector engagement in DRTB;
(4) Provide support in the development of training material and conducting training of in NTEP related to DRTB;
(5) Support the Central TB division in NTEP policy updates on DR-TB;
(6) Provide technical support to Central TB Division for the supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of NTEP DR-TB related activities;
(7) Provide technical support to Central TB Division for DR-TB related operational research;
(8) Provide support to the program at all levels in effective digital data management, validation, analysis and its application to guide policies and actions;
(9) Provide a monthly report and an end-of-assignment report in the prescribed formats on activities, achievements, challenges and recommendations;
(10) Perform other duties as required in the interests of the programme.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Applicants must have an MBBS and Post Graduate Diploma/ Post Graduate Degree (MD/ DNB/ MPH) (Chest and TB/ Internal Medicine Pediatrics/ Community Medicine/ Preventive & Social Medicine/ Medicine/ Tropical Medicine/ Epidemiology/ Public Health) from a recognized university.
Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of five years’ experience in public health programmes/ projects, of which three years of experience in NTEP;
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Proven ability to communicate clearly;
(2) Ability to work effectively in a Team;
(3) Proficiency in computer applications;
(4) Excellent knowledge of spoken/written English and local language;
(5) Ability to produce results and work in a changing environment.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
