Senior Fundraising Officer, Mlinda 
Charitable Trust, Delhi/ Mumbai/ Bangalore


1. POSITION(S) VACANT: Senior Fundraising Officer, Mlinda Charitable Trust, Delhi/ Mumbai/ Bangalore (One Vacancy)

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Mlinda Charitable Trust (MCT) is a not-for-profit entity, registered in India as a Public Charitable Trust focused on improving the lives of people of India through the provision of clean energy. MCT is  a member of and works closely with the Mlinda Group, led by Mlinda Foundation CIO, a UK registered charity.


MCT has been integral to Mlinda’s rural electrification project, delivered first in the Sunderbans and, currently, in Gumla district, Jharkhand. The organization supports communities in building financially and environmentally sustainable businesses and livelihoods, using solar renewable energy.

MCT aims to play a central role in the Mlinda Group, over the next 3–5 years, creating and implementing a vision of sustainable economic development, using renewable energy as a catalyst for that growth and developing a model that can be replicated, at scale, by other organizations across the world.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

MCT are looking to hire an accomplished business development professional to lead corporate fundraising operations in India. The selected candidate should have a deep understanding of the corporate fundraising ecosystem and will identify, initiate and close new opportunities for short and long term fundraising for MCT.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Develop and implement MCT's strategy for raising funds from corporates and corporate foundations;
(2) Build and manage new partnerships with large corporates and corporate foundations before, during, and after the receipt of funds;
(3) Forge long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with business houses to raise funds for ongoing MCT projects;
(4) Undertake market research and maintain and track a portfolio of existing and potential donor companies and organizations. Developing and take responsibility for executing plans for securing new funding from these organizations;
(5) Develop and articulate professional proposals at senior level meetings with diverse and potential donor companies and organizations;
(6) Handle all operational processes relating to the role viz. fund release, reporting, communication, documentation, presentations, etc.;
(7) Initiate and support specific, India-based B2B activities, that will motivate major prospective corporates to approach MCT for renewable energy partnership projects.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:


Applicants should be post-graduates, or equivalent. 

Experience:
(1) 10 years of experience in a similar role. Demonstrated success in maturing large ticket and long-term corporate partnerships, is essential;

(2) Sharp understanding of the corporate fundraising landscape in India, including prospective donor targets, market leaders and strong brands.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills;
(2) Result oriented with a strong commitment to MCT's cause of sustainable development;
(3) Demonstrated track record of maintaining key donor relationships, as well as establishing new partnerships;
(4) Successful record of writing and maturing corporate fundraising proposals and applications;
(5) Expertise in creating and delivering compelling and persuasive presentations;
(6) Strong time management skills and adherence to deadlines;
(7) Highly disciplined with the ability to work independently.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

7. LOCATION: Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore, with regular travel to the Gumla Project office and Ranchi, Jharkhand.
