2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Incorporated in 2008, the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) is an industry led, membership based Indian non-profit organization, that drives energy efficiency markets and policies in India.

AEEE is the only organization in India that works on creating awareness about energy efficiency as a resource. The organization aims to transform India into a global leader in energy efficiency, by reducing the country’s energy intensity. AEEE is working towards making India a globally competitive and environmentally sustainable economy and one of the most attractive markets for companies, with the best available energy-efficient technologies. The organization also provides a convening platform for Government and Industry to engage in a constructive dialogue to design and implement effective and impactful policies.

Over the years, major foundations, as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies, have helped AEEE grow, as well as undertake projects in the area of energy efficiency policy advocacy and business enablement, with emphasis on knowledge products and the creation of more effective and credible platforms.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Programme Lead, AEEE, the Research Associate – Cold Chain shall be responsible for managing policy and research advocacy related to developing a sustainable cold chain. This role is to support AEEE’s policy and research programmes, including, but not limited to, energy efficiency and environmental management in Cold Chain for agriculture and allied sectors and health care.


AEEE is looking for a self-motivated, positive, and passionate professional with a problem solving and growth mindset for this position.

Key Deliverables:

(1) Support review of various policies, ordinances, and programs at the centre and state levels in agriculture and healthcare;
(2) Support energy performance evaluation of post-harvest management infrastructure and identify energy efficiency interventions;
(3) Staying abreast of the developments in India and globally in the field of cold chains, including but limited to Doubling Farmers’ Income (DFI), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), markets reforms in agricultural produce trade and commerce, logistics policies, Global Food Cold Chain Council (GFCCC), Universal Immunization Programme (UIP), electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN). Working knowledge of these policies/programs would be a plus;
(4) Track key policies and schemes related to cold chain, state climate action plans and sustainable development goals; identify potential opportunities to integrate energy efficiency in these policies and schemes;
(5) Support the development of financing/business models for cold chain development, including Public-Private Partnerships (PPP);
(6) Support identification of potential strategy areas, developing proposals and undertaking meaningful research to support policymaking;
(7) Support primary and secondary research for proposals and project implementation;
(8) To develop surveys and questionnaires and to collect, collate and analyze the data using different data analysis software/ tools;
(9) Willing to travel within India to carry out various project activities;
(10) Generate content and outreach activities for blogs, brochures, online posts, and articles;
(11) Support building strong relationships with relevant stakeholders;
(12) Support writing and preparing discussion papers, project reports, presentations, issue briefs, journal-papers;
(13) Guiding and mentoring research analysts or interns;
(14) Participating in events, seminars, etc. related to the field of work;
(15) Participating actively in and contributing to the overall development of the organization.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:
(1) Bachelor’s degree in Architecture/ Mechanical/ Electrical, Architectural Engineering or related discipline and;
(2)
Master’s degree in logistics and supply chain management, post-harvest management or equivalent areas relevant for cold chain development in agriculture (and allied sectors) and health care sectors, energy management, economics, international development from reputed institutions in India or overseas;
(3) Applicants with Ph.D. degree will be preferred.

Experience:
(1) 1-3 years of work experience in national/ international organizations, companies, government agencies, with a demonstrated track record of successful engagement and management of complex projects in the field of cold chain policy development and/or implementation;

(2) Experience in policy development support and  implementation in the field of energy efficiency in agricultural and vaccine cold-chains is preferred;
(3) Experience leading and/or playing key roles in policy dialogue with clients and stakeholders for government, industry and civil society in the agriculture sector;
(4) Excellent track record in carrying out high quality and timely analytical reports and activities would be advantageous;
(5) understanding of the present market and overall supply chain for agriculture and (and allied sectors) and health care sectors.


Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong ability to articulate, comprehend and synthesize technical information for people working in the policy arena, agricultural and/or health care field will be plus;
(2) Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is  a pre-requisite;

(3) Open-minded, humble, flexible, and team player with a “can-do” attitude;
(4) Ability to think critically and ask relevant and probing questions;
(5) Well demonstrated and proven communication skills (e.g. writing, presentation and visualization). Applicant must have strong ability to articulate, comprehend and synthesize technical information for people of different background (e.g., Policy, research, private sector);
(6) High degree of proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
