Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) is a policy advocacy and energy efficiency market enabler with a not-for-profit motive. AEEE advocates energy efficiency as a resource and collaborates with industry and government to transform the market for energy-efficient products and services, thereby contributing towards meeting India’s goals on energy security, clean energy, and climate change. AEEE collaborates with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, government officials, business and industry, consumers, researchers, and civil society organizations. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director- Marketing, Alliances, and Partnerships, the Manager – Communication, Marketing & PR (MCP), shall be responsible for developing and implementing activities and initiatives to enhance the organization’s visibility.
The post-holder shall be accountable for high-quality written external and internal communication, strategizing, leading, and executing campaigns assisted by outsourcing partners to promote AEEE’s brand messaging, programs, solution offerings, and thought leadership initiatives. The MCP shall also be responsible for managing the entire external communication plan and public relations activities being executed with the support of an external agency.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Strategic Communications:
(1) Draft talking points, op-eds, blogs, editorials, and newsletters for research verticals and thematic groups, as well as the Chairman and the Executive Director, AEEE.
(2) Develop effective communication policies and media relations programs, including strategy, budgets, and goals, for brand promotional activities with the appointed PR Agency, and internal team.
(3) Work with and advise senior leadership on participation in appropriate forums and support the development of content for delivering critical communications and engagement goals.
(4) Work with project/ research teams to identify requirements on collaterals, reports, webinars, newsletters, digital engagement, and media engagement.
(5) Coordinate with in-house designers and outsourced agencies for messaging and design of collaterals, key visuals, and report layouts in different program areas, in alignment with project priorities.
(6) Oversee the maintenance and analytics of the organization’s website.
(7) Guide and supervise the communications team and external project-based consultants.
(8) As part of the core communication team of Solar Decathlon India (SDI), coordinate and amplify SDIs outreach from AEEE’s side.
(B) Marketing:
(1) Raise the visibility of the AEEE brand by participating in external forums and industry networking activities in multiple program areas viz. Research Verticals, Industry Platforms and Business Creation.
(2) Experiment, scout, and implement new digital marketing channels, tools, and best practices to consistently improve Return on Investment and reduce the cost of member/ customer acquisition.
(3) Promote organic and direct traffic by constant engagement with Search Engine Optimization.
(4) Lead the successful execution of flagship events like FEED, and support outreach/ logistical plan for ENERGISE.
(5) Work closely with project teams to execute campaigns for meeting program objectives, closely monitoring the impact of each campaign on key audience metrics, and regularly reporting on the same to concerned stakeholders.
(6) Analyze data, market insights, and follow trends to create campaigns for driving business and building a culture of energy efficiency.
(7) Organize/manage press interactions.
(C) Strengthen AEEE’s Credibility and Positioning:
(1) Draft and lead the organization’s strategic presentations for Annual General Meeting, membership, and pitch documents.
(2) Drive brand positioning and collaborations, public relations, and media, as well as digital media initiatives, in line with the marketing strategy for AEEE
(3) Develop and manage AEEE’s local, national, and global outreach collaboratively across various Energy Efficiency themes.
(4) Develop and prepare content from internal and external sources and archived content.
(5) Conduct interviews and behavioral research and/or source articles from Energy Efficiency experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders for organizational endorsements.
(6) Constantly network with national and local media to identify press opportunities for ongoing initiatives and news efforts.
(7) Draft press releases, fact sheets, logo guidance, brand partnership guidance, and critical organizational content, with agility and efficiency.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification
Applicants must be post-graduates in Communication, Journalism, or a related discipline.
Experience
(1) Minimum 8-10 years of experience in marketing, communications, and public relations. Experience in a not-for-profit organization of repute will be an advantage.
(2) Strong written communication with an existing body of work (articles, op-eds, or blogs). Knowledge of energy efficiency and the energy domain (demand side) will be an added advantage.
(3) Experience in working with civil society organizations, public relations agencies, energy sector companies, etc.
(4) Hands-on experience in setting up, implementing, and running targeted marketing programs and campaigns.
(5) Readiness in using creative methods to navigate the current media landscape at the local and national level.
(6) Prior experience in providing communications support and counsel to “C-level executives.”
(7) Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Very strong in written communication with a proven track record of writing for different platforms, for a multitude of audiences.
(2) Well-read and informed about the climate and energy sectors (not necessary on the technical side). Should be able to synthesize internal and external reports into AEEE’s narrative, social media outreach, and leadership communication.
(3) Critical thinking and ability to ask the right questions
(4) Leading by example to take responsibility for the team and display an exemplary collaborative and “get it done” attitude by following the values of AEEE.
(5) Ability to build and develop strong relationships, apart from possessing a solid network of connections within the media.
(6) Ability to customize and promote messaging across LinkedIn and Twitter.
(7) Must be a great collaborator willing to support cross-functional teams. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
(8) Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
(9) Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change and organizational objectives.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
