1. POSITION VACANT: Assistant Director – Finance, SOS Children’s Villages of India (SOSCVI), New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Founded in 1949 in Austria, SOS Children’s Villages began its operations in India in 1964. Registered as an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit, society, SOS Children’s Villages of India (SOSCVI), works for the holistic development of parentless children, women and children belonging to vulnerable families.

SOSCVI works with children, communities, disaster struck and disaster-prone areas, giving hope to weary communities and families. The organization is committed to the welfare of parentless and abandoned children and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect.

SOSCVI has reached out to over 54,000+  children over the past 50 years, through more than 105 different programs implemented in 22 states/ Union Territories, across the country. It is the largest operation within the SOS International Federation of 134 countries.

The organisation has fostered four generations of parentless and abandoned children and enabled them to lead constructive lives. The children are provided an identity, a family to call their own, and most importantly, a life that has set examples for others to grow up to become active and contributing members of society.
 

SOSCVI also provides support to vulnerable families as a part of its Family Strengthening Programme. The programme helps biological parents, under trying conditions, to strengthen their capacities as caregivers and contain the abandonment of children by their families.

The organisation has also been a first responder, each time a natural or man-made disaster has struck India, providing active assistance and initiating relief operations and activities, with central importance being given to affected children.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Director – Finance (ADF) is a key member of the finance team, leading and supporting budgeting, taxation, finalisation of accounts, conduct of statutory and internal audits and coordination of computerised accounting initiatives. Detailed job responsibilities for the position are discussed below:

Detailed Responsibilities  

(1) Planning and forecasting, as well as preparation of budgets for schools each year, based on close study of other schools in the area;
(2) Consolidation and preparation of school MIS on a monthly basis, including variance analysis;
(3) Complete track of school fee income, including follow-up for fee recoverable;
(4) Liaising and coordination with internal and statutory auditors for the successful conduct of audits;
(5) Planning and preparation of income tax returns;
(6) Research and resolution of tax and accounting issues affecting SOS CVI;
(7) Coordination and preparation of Final Accounts;
(8) Timely collection and submission of Accounting Returns from Schools to National Office;
(9) Oversight of Taxation Accounting, and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register;
(10) Transfer of family budget, Global Accounts;
(11) Guiding juniors and advising seniors about appropriate accounting systems and procedures to enable the provision of timely feedback to the National Office;
(12) Handling of Navision accounting and other ERP-based accounting applications.

      

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications
Applicants must be qualified Chartered Accountants.


Experience

(1) Applicants must have 5+ years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting for reputed, well-managed companies and/or not-for-profits;
(2) Prior experience of managing and overseeing budgeting, taxation, finalization of accounts, coordination of statutory and internal audit, and computerization of accounts, is essential.

 

Skills and Competencies
(1) Strong knowledge of ERP

(2) Strong knowledge of internal controls
(3) In-depth tax knowledge at the local and state levels
(4) Dedicated to providing exceptional service to organization and clients
(5) Able to work in a fast-paced environment
(6) Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
(7) Excellent communication in English and Hindi with demonstrated skills in writing, presentation and people management;
(8) Willingness to travel within the country, based on the needs of the job.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive and in alignment with salaries paid by leading I/NGOs for leadership roles. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
