1. POSITIONS VACANT: Maintenance Engineer for Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) India, New Delhi

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), is established in India as an independent, non-profit, created under Section 8 (Indian) Companies Act, 2013, with its office in New Delhi. FIND India is the key implementing partner of Central TB Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, for strengthening and expanding TB laboratory diagnostic capacity under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) with the support of the Global Fund.

FIND India is a subsidiary of FIND, an international non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization is dedicated to activities that result in: 1) new diagnostic tools; 2) expanded access to these tools; and 3) strengthened diagnostic testing capacity for poverty-related diseases in low-and middle-income countries.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVES:
Presently, for diagnosis of patients who are suspected to have drug resistant TB, samples are referred to advanced Laboratory facilities available at district, regional or State levels. Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) was developed for digitization of laboratory data recording and reporting to referring facilities via Nikshay and is being implemented by various TB Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing (C&DST) Laboratories under NTEP.

Under the new Global Fund (TGF) project spread over 3 years from 2021-24, FIND in consultation with NTEP aims to expand LIMS to various CBNAAT/ GeneXpert and TrueNatTM facilities (currently >3000 facilities, more getting established) along with automated data capture from the machines.

FIND will strengthen LIMS to cover newer TB C&DST labs as well as from the perspective of sustainability and mainstreaming. Further, FIND will support in integration of various Laboratory related portals such as EQA portal and e-training with LIMS. FIND will also work towards promoting integration of other HMIS systems with NTEP’s Nikshay portal. Staff of various facilities will be trained to use various IT solutions provided to them under NTEP.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Engineer for Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) shall have following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
(1) Design maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods;
(2) Diagnose breakdown problems;
(3) Verify and support for replacement of new parts and making sure that the IT equipment is working correctly;
(4) Ensure strong coordination with laboratories as well as vendors;
(5) Conducting quality inspections as and when required;
(6) Manage day-to-day emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs of the equipment;
(7) Carry out routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults as required on site;

(8) Manage helpdesk as a primary contact (Call Log):

(a) For troubleshooting in LIMS implementation at TB C&DST labs through concerned team members;
(b) For queries raised from field for CBNAAT machine Connectivity, TrueNatTM machine connectivity, EQA portal, and assign to respective person in the team;

(c) Provide onsite/offsite training as required;
(d)
Support in updating user manual and training material for end users based on newer case studies;

(e) Perform other tasks, as assigned by line manager.

4. QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:      
Qualification:
Applicant must have Bachelors’ degree in Computer Application, Technology (B.Tech. Computer Science and IT) or Masters’ degree in Computer Application, or Science, from a recognized university;

Experience:
(1) Applicants must have minimum three years of experience in Information Systems, Database Management, Computer Hardware servicing and replacement Help Desk Management;
(2) Should have good understanding of IT hardware and networking;
(3) Experience in managing health information system development cycle shall be preferred.

Skills and Competencies
(1) Excellent oral and basic written communication skills;
(2) Flexibility and willingness to work on a range of tasks;
(3) Experience of strategic planning, and handling multiple tasks with tight timelines;
(4) Strong team orientation as well as ability to work independently (with minimum handholding and supervision);
(5) Willingness to travel as per project needs;
(6) Energetic, professional, mature, and confident.

5. LOCATION: New Delhi
(Note: Considering the current situation, it will be office and work from home mixed approach. Travel may be required to various laboratories implementing LIMS (travels will be reviewed before approval based national/ state safety guidelines during this Covid pandemic).

6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive and shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and salary history, of the selected candidate.

7. CONTRACT TYPE AND PERIOD:
This is a full-time position, and the initial contract will be offered for a period of one year, which shall be renewable based on performance, project extension and fund availability.
