3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Team Lead, the Senior Research Associate (SRA) - Low Carbon Built Environment, shall be providing technical support for policy and research programs in areas including, but not limited to thermal comfort, building energy efficiency, passive design, low energy cooling technology, active cooling strategies, district cooling, net-zero energy buildings and grid-interactive buildings.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Create problem-solving approaches, perform secondary research, conduct quantitative and financial analyses, and synthesize recommendations /findings into clear and compelling presentations and reports;
(2) Support in project management aspects such as coordinating with partners, and stakeholders and assistance in activities to execute a project;
(3) Conduct detailed research & analysis to examine the impact of policies and programs, low-energy cooling systems, thermal comfort, passive cooling strategies (shading, cool-roofs, etc.,), building energy codes, net-zero energy buildings, and district cooling;
(4) Support the team in technical knowledge on building energy efficiency and participate in peer review to enhance the quality of deliverables from the organization’s side;
(5) Support the amendment of state and city-level policies to integrate energy efficiency features per various policies and programs;
(6) Support in carrying out primary and secondary research for developing concept notes, proposals, and project implementation;
(7) Support in conducting meetings, interviews, stakeholder consultations, and focus group discussions on synthesizing feedback into high-level recommendations for projects;
(8) Facilitate building strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including policymakers, public agencies, businesses, subject-matter experts, funding agencies, academia, and peer organizations;
(9) Developing content for technical brochures, infographics, multimedia content, and other materials pertaining to the project in close coordination with the design and communication teams;
(10) Support in writing reports on the research project conducted and prepare manuscripts for peer-review publications where appropriate;
(11) Participating in events, seminars, etc., related to the field of work in and/or outside AEEE;
(12) Participating actively and contributing to the overall development of the organization; carrying out tasks assigned by AEEE, and traveling for work outside New Delhi as needed;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification
(1) A bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably electrical, mechanical, civil or energy engineering) or architecture;
(2) Applicants possessing a master’s degree with a specialization in buildings science or related programs shall be preferred;
(3) Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline is an advantage

 

Experience
(1) Minimum four years in national/international institutions and/or companies, and government agencies, with a demonstrated track record of policy research and/or building energy efficiency policy implementation;
(2) Sound understanding of building physics and energy efficiency is mandatory;
(3) Sound knowledge and understanding of thermal comfort, material efficiency, low carbon building materials, integrated building design for net-zero buildings, energy performance simulations, LCA.
(4) Working knowledge of policies and programs such as the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY), ECBC, ENS, ASHRAE 90.1 and green building rating systems, and ISO standards for building life cycle assessment

 

Skills and Competencies

(1) Experience and knowledge of building performance simulation tools, and data analysis tools will be a distinctive advantage;
(2) Should have a strong research background, proven analytical research capabilities, and excellent written and verbal communication;
(3) Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision;
(4) Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas;
(5) Based in New Delhi or willing to move (preferred).

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
