1. POSITION VACANT: Block Coordinator (One vacancy), Malkangiri, Odisha, UNICEF


2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
 

UNICEF is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. The organization works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.


UNICEF is supporting Centre of Excellence (CoE), Odisha, in capacity building, monitoring and knowledge management initiatives for strengthening the facility and community based management of severe acute malnutrition in Odisha.

 

The CoE established at Shishu Bhawan, Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar supports the state in the quality implementation of the programmes. The institution serves as a one-stop centre for supporting planning, monitoring and knowledge management for all child health and nutrition programmes in the state, including F-SAM, CMAM, RBSK and micronutrient supplementation programmes and serving as a one-stop resource center for child health and nutrition interventions in the state. Various critical child health and nutrition programmes are being implemented in the state, like SNCU, IYCF, RBSK, NIPI, VAS, NDD etc. The CoE Child Health and Nutrition programs are being facilitated and with the technical support of UNICEF at the state.

 

The CoE Child Health & nutrition program is responsible for the training and capacity building of Health, ICDS functionaries and WSHGs members for smooth intervention of the program. The CoE is also responsible for monitoring and supervision of the program at state. Malkangiri, Koraput, Balangir and Kandhamal districts have been selected for 1st phase community-based interventions for at-risk infants under six months of age.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Deliverables:

(1) Liaise with DWCD Supervisor / BMO and as needed to ensure appropriate notification has been made for all children identified as SAM and enrolled into the CMAM programme or referred to NRC;
(2) Responsible for overall data collection, and compilation with quality and timeliness in his/ her cluster;
(3) Responsible for managing databases and hard copy of the respective cluster of their program;
(4) Responsible for data transmission to the District Coordinator;
(5) Close follow-up on data collection at the field level;
(6) Prepare a small field observation and progress report on a monthly basis;
(7) Prepare a case study for the Community-based interventions for at-risk infants under six months of age program;
(8) Participate in the district, block level meetings, training and workshop and prepare the report;
(9) At least check 20% of the sample measurement taken by the ICDS functionaries and improve upon if any inconsistencies are noticed thereby through hand-holding support;
(10) Actively participate and support in community mobilization process;
(11) Perform any other related tasks assigned by the District Coordinator and State Program Coordinator in the successful implementation of the program.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:

(1) Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in social work or sociology.
(2) Master’s degree in social work or sociology will be preferred.

 

Experience:
(1) Minimum two years of experience in CMAM programs or nutrition programs is desirable;

(2) Experience of data collection at household and village level will be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, excel, word, PPT;
(2) Able to Understand and write simple English, Fluent in Odiya and can understand and speak local language;
(3)
An overall interest in social sector;

(4) Flexibility with regards hours/days of work;
(5) Ability to spend maximum time in field sites.

5. REMUNERATION:

Remuneration payable to the selected candidate in the form of professional fees shall be attractive and in alignment with market norms.

6. LOCATION and NUMBER OF VACANCY: Malkangiri, One Vacancy

7. DURATION: The successful candidate shall be issued a consultancy contract for a period of one year which shall be renewable based on performance.
