2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

ChildFund India is a partnership-based child development organization affiliated with ChildFund International, a global network of 12 international child development organizations, representing the voice of deprived, vulnerable, marginalized, and excluded children in India, regardless of race, creed, and gender.

ChildFund India has been transforming the lives of millions of children in India through child focused initiatives since 1951, helping improve the well-being of vulnerable children by empowering the community to undertake and manage holistic child development programs, and by networking with other stakeholders, as well.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director - Resource Mobilization and Communication (DRMC), the Senior Manager – Communications (SMC) shall be responsible for promoting the organisational image of ChildFund in India through better positioning, brand visibility and strengthened credibility, among internal and external audiences across various channels/ platforms.

The postholder shall work with and provide guidance to the communications team in the development, modification, and production of branding and fundraising materials, to support resource mobilization efforts of ChildFund India. S/he will facilitate cross-learning by comprehensively incorporating organizational lessons in communications material.

Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Develop and implement an effective national communications strategy, including social media strategy, consistent with the organization’s core intent, outcomes, areas of excellence and strategic direction;
(2) Proactively collaborate with teams at the country, regional and global levels, providing necessary information and generating ideas for content/ PR/ advocacy; 
(3) Coordinate with the International Office and ChildFund Alliance offices, as necessary, to respond to their informational needs;
(4) Provide proactive, strategic, high-touch communications support and advice on internal and external communications, as appropriate, to protect and enhance the organization’s reputation and brand;
(5) Monitor and guide development, maintenance, and expansion of the ChildFund India website and social media platforms; coordinate online queries/ responses and serve as the focal point for managing the organization’s social media networks;
(6) Coordinate with other departments of ChildFund in India, developing and distributing information, communications and high quality printed, audio-visual, digital fundraising, and marketing/promotional materials, to target audiences, including corporates, individuals, government departments, donor agencies and foundations;
(7) Act as brand champion to project a unified image and message that establishes ChildFund as a leading child-focused international development organization;
(8) Lead the process of branding the offices of ChildFund in India, including local partners and direct implementing locations;
(9) Ensure brand compliance and train concerned staff on branding and communication to streamline the communication process;
(10) Identify and seize media opportunities to promote ChildFund’s programs. Develop talking points and communication messages for the spokespersons of the organization and provide media training to staff;
(11) Respond to and document queries by local, regional/ international news media and donor contacts, in a timely and appropriate manner;
(12) During emergency responses, work in close collaboration with the National Emergency Response Team and implement a communications plan on behalf of ChildFund’s emergency programs to governments, UN Agencies, donors, other INGOs and the media. Produce content, prepare news releases, and ensure appropriate placement;
(13) In security and crisis situations, proactively prepare press statements and ensure appropriate placement, whenever required;
(14) Provide support in designing campaigns to promote the organization’s programs, prepare visibility plans for projects and training modules for training staff on branding, social media, media, photography, etc.;
(15) Manage and work with consultants, commissioned writers, and interns;
(16) Undertake any other task assigned by the Supervisor/ Line Manager, based on organizational requirement.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification and Experience
(1) Applicants must have a postgraduate degree in Communications, Media, or Marketing; 
(2) Seven to eight years of experience in communications and media relations, preferably in the humanitarian or international development sector (INGOs);
(3) Prior experience in developing, managing, and assessing integrated communications and promotional plans, with in-depth understanding of brand development and communications.

Skills and Competencies
(1) Strong organizational skills, and ability to deliver high quality work, under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and simultaneously manage multiple projects;
(2) Superior writing and editing skills; excellent oral communications skills and fluency in English is essential;
(3) Global mindset and good interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively as part of a local team, and across organizational lines and geographic boundaries;
(4) Skilled in print quality photography and production of short videos;
(5) Proven track record in facilitating workshops, planning, managing, and developing executive communication;
(6) Excellent computer skills, including Word-processing, desktop and web-based publishing, and photo, and video editing;
(7) A good initiator and team player, with willingness to share information and communicate positively and effectively with all stakeholders;|
(8) Gender sensitive with a strong conviction in and skills for the empowerment of excluded and disadvantaged children.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is a maximum of Rs. 13.75 lacs per annum. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
