1. POSITION VACANT: Medical Officer, CSR Foundation, Pune, Maharashtra.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Medical Officer will undertake the following responsibilities:

 

Key Job Responsibilities:
 

(A) Clinical Care at IPD:

(1) To take ward rounds daily;

(2) Independently carry out a comprehensive patient assessment and develop medical management plan;

(3) Present the ward round to the senior palliative care physician;

(4) Ensure that inputs of Specialist Palliative care physicians in the team are sought, taken, documented and implemented for patient care plans;

(5) Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of care in patient records including electronic medical records;

(6) Independently carry out minor procedures at ward level like nasogastric tube insertion, urinary catheter insertion, wound management etc;

(7) Keep up-to-date knowledge the pharmacology of medications that are commonly used in palliative care;

(8) To adhere to all CPC policies and procedures;

(9) Provide palliative care to patients in patient units i.e. wards, home care set up and the out-patient clinic at the centre;

 

(B) External OPD /Outreach Clinics:

(1) Provide clinical care to patients referred through external OPDs;

(2) Triage the patients seen in external OPDs for OPD consultation or admission at CPC or home care registration as per the need;

 

(C) Multi-Disciplinary Teamwork (MDT):

(1) Participate productively in clinical multi-disciplinary work including ward rounds, meetings and ensure proper documentation;

(2) Recommend any specific cases to be discussed in MDT meeting;

(3) Present the cases in MDT meeting as assigned;

(4) Ensure implementation and documentation of MDT meeting discussion on patient files;

 

(D) Training:

(1) Undertake and guide research and projects in the field of palliative care;

(2) Assist in the development of standards of care and practice;

(3) Participate in academic sessions and training programs for skill development;

(4) Share knowledge and expertise with other members of the clinical team and wider health and social care community through formal and informal teaching;

 

(E) Clinical Governance:

(1) Contribute and participate in audit and clinical governance activities to ensure continuous service and care quality improvement;

(2) Ensure any incidents, near misses and complaints from patients, carers, families and others are reported and managed sensitively, effectively and in accordance with the policies and procedures;

(3) Actively encourage the initiation of audit/ research activities;

(4) Ensure compliance with all organisation’s policies, procedures, health and safety and other mandatory requirements;

(5) Ensure provision and participation in activities designed to improve clinical practice i.e. clinical supervision, reflective practice, debrief;

(6) Positively participate in annual appraisals and individual performance reviews;

(7) Responsible for developing self-awareness through reflective practice, demonstrating a commitment to disseminating information and sharing experiences;

(8) Contribute to a climate where team members openly discuss and challenge standards of individual practice and where decision-making can be ratified as a team;

(9) Take responsibility for day-to-day monitoring of risks, incidents, accidents and near misses to minimize risk to patients, families, caregivers, visitors and staff;

(10) Practice and promote patient confidentiality always. Demonstrate efficient time management and a flexible attitude to working patterns;

(11) Work within the limits of own competency and responsibility and refer areas that are outside of your competency to your line manager;

(12) Treat everyone with respect and dignity. Respect and support all colleagues. Maintain a professional, friendly and positive influence.


4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification

 

(1) Applicants must have an MBBS with a valid Maharashtra Medical Council registration;
(2) MD in palliative care from a recognized university shall be an added advantage.

 

Experience

(2) Minimum 1-2 years of experience in health care setup;

(3) Prior experience in clinical palliative care shall be an added advantage;


Skills and Competencies

(1) Excellent Proficiency in English both written and verbal;

(2) Good proficiency in Hindi and Marathi;

(3) Willing to work in 3 shifts – Morning, Afternoon, and Night;

(4) Willing to travel to visit patients at home care set up.


5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
 

The consolidated remuneration for the position ranges between Rs. 12 to 15 lacs per annum and will be commensurate with the qualification and experience of the candidate.
