3ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Kamonohashi Project (Kamo), a Japanese philanthropic organisation founded in 2002, aims at creating a world without human trafficking. It has been supporting organizations and projects in India since 2012 that aim to combat human trafficking and to strengthen access to justice by the survivors of human trafficking through systems strengthening approach.

Kamo plays the role of monitoring and fund manager for all the programmes. Building programme branding and visibility is also one of the key roles that Kamo plays with an objective to enhance programme credibility and sustainability. In this context, Kamo is looking for a Communications Officer who would assist the Communications Manager in implementing the communications strategies to play this role effectively.

 

4. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

This is an exciting role for a passionate, energetic young professional who aspires to impact the system for the justice of marginalized groups and has the ability and willingness to learn and build expertise in rights-based approach.

 

Reporting to Communications Manager, s/he will be responsible for providing support in effectively carrying out actions planned under the communications portfolio, bringing in synergy among the programme partners to ensure the communications strategies of both the programmes are achieved.

 

The communications officer will be required to travel within India, especially across partner offices in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Content Development and Distribution

  1. Support creating and implementing a robust content strategy keeping in mind the target audience in collaboration with the Communications Manager
  2. Designing and creating engaging content, including videos, for digital platforms as per the overall content strategy and monthly content plan.
  3. Creating compelling visual assets for print and digital materials, including brochures, posters, reports, E-newsletters and other promotional content to disseminate the programmes’ impact and increase their visibility.

 

Digital and Social Media Management

  1. Develop and implement social media strategies and monthly plans to effectively showcase the programme’s activities and achievements.
  2. Manage and curate content for various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) associated with both the programmes to engage and grow our online community.
  3. Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and provide timely updates to foster positive interaction with stakeholders.
  4. Monitor social media performance and audience engagement and provide insights for monthly reports
  5. Staying updated on the latest trends and best practices in social media marketing and content designs.

 

Website Maintenance

  1. Oversee and maintain the programme websites, coordinate with website developers ensuring those are up-to-date, visually appealing, and user-friendly.
  2. Using Content Management Systems, regularly update content, news, and success stories to reflect the latest developments in the programmes

Media Relations

 

(1) Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media agencies and partners for increased programme visibility

(2) Support media outreach actions in drafting press releases, media pitches to garner increased media footprint

  1. Keep a record of outreach efforts and provide insights for monthly media monitoring reports

 

Partnerships and Collaborations:

(1) Building and nurturing relationships with partners in order to maintain program branding and messaging, and enhance visibility

(2) Work closely with the Programme teams to understand programme activities and achievements, collect relevant information, success stories, and ground updates for communication purposes

(3) Reach out to potential collaborators for campaigns and social media drives aimed at content marketing and fundraising
(4) Perform other communication-related tasks assigned by the supervisor

 

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: 


Qualification:

 

Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree degree preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience of working in development sector.         
Experience, Skills and Competencies: 

 

(1) Excellent creative and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to translate ideas into compelling visual content.

(2) Proven experience in managing social media channels, creating engaging content, content marketing and growing online communities.

(3) Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS) and web analytics tools.

(4) Experience in video editing on software such as Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro, Canva
(5) Experience of handling a camera and good visual sense
(6) Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in other languages such as Hindi, Bengali and Telugu is an advantage
(7) 
Experience in the development sector, particularly in network and collaborations, is desirable
(8) 
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with attention to detail.
(9) Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams

(10) Ability to effectively interact with people at all levels in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

 

7. COMPENSATION OFFERED:


Gross compensation for this position could be up to a maximum of Rs. 65,000/- per month depending on the required skills and experience. The compensation will be subject to withholding of taxes, as applicable.

 

8. NATURE OF ENGAGEMENT:

The selected candidate shall be appointed as Full time Consultant for fixed term assignment with Strategic Alliance Management Services Pvt. Ltd. (SAMS). The initial contract shall be for a period of one year (including initial 6 months of probation period), renewable based on approval from Kamonohashi and candidate’s performance.

 

9. LOCATION: The selected candidate can work from anywhere, located either in New Delhi or West Bengal (with good connectivity).
