3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Manager- Civil Works shall be responsible for supporting the Partnerships and Project Implementation team, by bringing in technical knowledge about water management interventions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Undertake community needs assessment exercises, particularly related to rainwater harvesting, to accurately reflect the community’s requirements;

(2) Study projects on similar themes by other organizations, identify best practices, implement improvements, and integrate learnings in proposing new projects;

(3) Keep abreast with emerging trends and funding priorities relating to SMSF’s water management interventions;

(4) Develop quality standard protocols for physical structures being built as a part of projects;

(5) Support program leaders in identifying vendors and contractors for carrying out civil works;

(6) Provide technical support to project teams to ensure that the physical structures being built as a part of projects adhere to prescribed quality standards;

(7) Participate actively in the Village level meetings and appraise the participants on the civil related works and its importance;

(8) Support program leaders in identifying vendors and contractors for carrying out civil works;

(9) Provide in-house technical expertise for all fundraising proposals submitted by the organization relating to water management interventions;

(10) Write project proposals, concept notes and project briefs in consultation with other relevant team members for funding partners;

(11) Ensure that the proposals are in line with the partner’s requirements and the organizational mandate, reflect the needs of the community, and has a clearly defined impact measurement framework;

 (12) Ensure that SMSF’s vision, mission, values, culture, policies and procedures are adhered to.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:        

 

Qualifications:

Applicants must have Bachelors/ Masters’ degree in Civil Engineering.  

 

Experience:

(1) Minimum eight years of experience in civil engineering projects, with focus on watershed and community development;

(2) Demonstrated experience of project implementation in a time bound manner, managing multiple stakeholders, quality assurance and of having worked on web-based applications;

(3) Previous experience of working with NGO’s/ development sector will be an advantage.

 

Essential Skills and Competencies:

(1) Ability to work independently to structure complex problems, develop hypotheses and support recommendations with data/ analysis;

(2) Strong management and problem-solving capabilities;

(3) Exceptional spoken and written communication skills;

(4) Demonstrated interest and commitment to the development sector.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
