PRADAN is a respected Indian, non-profit organisation, established in 1983 and registered under the Societies Registration Act. The organization works with the rural poor to enhance their income and standard of living.

PRADAN is the largest non-profit in the livelihood space in the country, with more than 600 professional staff, spread across seven states (viz. Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and West Bengal).

PRADAN promotes Self-Help Groups, develops locally relevant economic activities, mobilises finances from government schemes and introduces models to improve livelihoods of the rural poor and sustain their progress.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager shall be responsible for managing the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, including developing and implementing the MEL framework, performance indicators, MEL tools, and data quality assurance processes to ensure the timeliness and validity of data entry.

Key Deliverables:

A. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

(1) Provide advice to the Management Unit through the Development Engagement Support Unit at the Head Office on M&E systems and operations;

(2) Provide advice, support and build capacity of M&E colleagues, as requested, across PRADAN;

(3) Participate in designing cost-effective, innovative and high-quality programmes;

(4) Provide support in proposals and project agreements with expertise and thought leadership to establish adequate M&E;

(5) Monitor the quality, reliability and relevance of data collected to ascertain the outcome, impact and sustainability of programmes and projects;

(6) Recommend as needed improvement of the PRADAN theory of change and underpinning logic;

 

B. Learning

(1) Work with other units at the Head Office to develop PRADAN’s learning agenda, strengthen integration of learning in programmes and the organisation’s voice in relevant sector forums;

(2) Keep up-to-date with emerging and trending best practice in processes and tools for M&E, including evaluations of similar programmes;

(3) Take a lead role in extracting and consolidating evidence and learning from evaluations, projects and programmes to identify best practice across PRADAN geographies.

 4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:


Qualifications:

Applicants must be Ph.D. or Post Graduate preferably in statistics/ economics/ business management from a reputed university.

Experience:

(1) Minimum 10 years of strong experience within a similar position or with demonstrable leadership experience in the design and implementation of MEL/ MIS in development projects implemented by national/ international NGOs/ government programmes;

(2) Prior experience of learning and developing evidence for policy and advocacy;

(3) Prior experience in community-based implementation approaches, with familiarity of relevant concepts, including socio-economic empowerment, gender equality, financial inclusion, rural/ agricultural development, food security, or similar shall be given preference.

(4) Strong experience in analysing data and using statistical software;

(5) Experience in delivering or facilitating training shall be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Good written and verbal skills in English;

(2) Excellent knowledge of MEL and MIS;

(3) Excellent ability to think both strategically and operationally around the introduction and implementation of appropriate tools, processes and strategies;

(4) Understanding of implementation of new systems relating to MEL;

(5) Ability to identify capacity building opportunities and lead trainings and capacity building workshops;

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 18 lacs per annum. The compensation offered to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and past salary history.
